EAST FORK

The East Fork of the San Juan is accessible off U.S. Highway 160 at mile marker 154, approximately 10 miles east of downtown Pagosa Springs. Follow East Fork Road (gravel) past the Forest Service campground for a couple of miles. The stream will come into view on the right. The East Fork offers several miles of public water easily within reach of the road, consequently it receives a fair amount of pressure. However, due to fairly regular stockings, and a good wild population, this small freestone stream will afford those with limited time and/or mobility issues, a rewarding experience. Expect to find Browns and Bows up to 12 – 14″ as well as the occasional Brookie and Cutthroat.

Fly selection will include all the “usual suspects”; attractor dries and bead head nymphs in hook sizes 12-18.
